Our Story

Pile Of Books

This shop began as a dream to create something more than a place to buy books or tea — a space where people could slow down, connect, and feel completely at home.

With a B.A. in English Literature and a Master’s in Clinical Social Work, I’ve always been drawn to both stories and people — to the ways books and shared spaces can open us up, bring us together, and help us heal. I worked in a university bookstore, where I managed textbook orders and saw firsthand how a bookstore could become a gathering place — a daily touchpoint for conversation, discovery, and belonging.

When I began envisioning this shop, I knew I wanted it to reflect the communities closest to my heart. As a queer and neurodivergent person, I understand how vital it is to have spaces where we can show up as our full selves — places that feel safe, warm, and accepting. This shop is my way of creating that.

Here, every book, cup of tea, and conversation is chosen with intention. Our shelves will uplift diverse voices, especially those from queer, neurodivergent, and marginalized communities. Our space is meant for gathering — for connection, reflection, creativity, and care.

Our bookstore/tea cafe was built with community at its heart.
We intentionally design this space to be safe and welcoming for LGBTQ+ folks, neurodivergent people, and anyone who feels out of place in more traditional settings. From our gender-neutral restroom to our sensory-friendly corner, we want you to feel like you can take a deep breath and just be here.

We will stock queer literature and work by neurodivergent creators. We will also host inclusive events — book clubs, craft nights, and more — that prioritize community and consent.

Whether you’re looking for a cozy nook to read in silence or a warm pot of tea and conversation, you’re welcome here, exactly as you are.

Lindström is a beautiful town with deep roots and a welcoming spirit. I’m grateful to be part of its story, and to create a space where everyone — locals, travelers, readers, thinkers, and dreamers — can belong.

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that Lindström, Minnesota, is located on the ancestral and contemporary lands of the Dakota people, including the Mdewakanton Dakota, who have lived, cared for, and gathered on this land for countless generations.
This region, known today as the Chisago Lakes area, remains deeply connected to the Dakota through their history, culture, and spiritual traditions.

We recognize that the land was taken from Indigenous peoples through broken treaties and forced removal, and we honor the ongoing presence and resilience of Dakota and other Indigenous communities across Minnesota.

We commit to deepening our understanding of this history and to building respectful relationships with the Native nations whose homelands we share.

We don’t fit in—so we built our own shelves.
